A Korean Styled Martial Arts School based on Taekwondo. Forms are Chang Hon Hyung, the school is associated with The International Taekwondo Association. Mission: To build leaders in our comunities through empowering individuals with confidence, courage, good moral judgment, strict disaplin. through the practice of the Martial Way developing physical strength & Fitness, Mental toughness & intellegence while enhancing an enlightend human spirit with zest for life and all life can offer. Description: All Northwind TKD Schools are private fraternities requiring prior appointment before attendance is permitted. Attendance is by way of registering as a member of Northwind and ITA. When ready, enrolling in a course of training and purchasing a white training uniform. Currently Northwind is offering courses at Waihi and Hauraki Plains two nights a week. Each lesson will be completed... in 90 to 120 minutes depending on the content on the night. Each course content will cover traditional forms (sequenced techniques grouped by difficulty from ancient battle experience), kicking and striking, Joint manipulation and restraining techniques, off balancing and landing techniques, defenses against weapons and unarmed opponents, Korean history and culture based around Taekwondo, courtly manners and discipline, physical fitness & conditioning and technical knowledge behind the martial arts and its skills. All course’s are skill and knowledge based therefore practice and repetitive learning is required on the students own time, not class time. All students are expected to remember what they have been taught in previous lessons. The Northwind Black Belt program, is graduated into 10 courses, varying in length depending on content, ability and skill most preteen students graduate in 10-7 years, teenagers in 7-4 years and Adults in 3-5 years.
